The Team

Meet your 2021 - 2022 Burtonsville MOPS Steering Team (and their families)! These ladies work hard behind the scenes to make our MOPS meetings wonderful.

Rachel DeBacker, Co-Coordinator

Rachel is a wife, mother, Jesus follower, book nerd, and lover of all things quiet. This is her tenth year in MOPS and second year as coordinator. She and her husband Devin met in college and have been married for 13 years, moved 7 times, and have 5 kids - Leila (10), Sophie (8), Emma (6), Bennett (5), and Liam (2). When she's not running kids around and dragging them on new adventures, she's volunteering at her kids' school and diving into her many book clubs. Rachel is excited and honored to be serving MOPS this year and can't wait to see how God works through the group to bring mamas closer to Christ during this humbling, hard, joyous, and sometimes hilarious journey of motherhood.

Katie Samsock, Co-Coordinator

This is Katie’s 5th year at MOPS and she is so excited to be co-coordinator!!! Katie has been married to her husband, John, for 11 years. They live in Olney with their two kids Libby (6) and Jack (4). She grew up not too far away in the Silver Spring/ Burtonsville area. Katie loves to read, bake, act on stage and travel. She can’t wait to kick off this year and make new friends and grow in her faith with this awesome Mama tribe!

Kristen Llewellyn, Co Creative Activities

Kristen was born and raised in Montgomery County, went to college in Mississippi, and came back to Rockville after graduating. After teaching private school for 2 years (4th and 5th grades), Kristen began teaching First Grade in Montgomery County. She has been married to her husband, Paul, for 8 years and has 3 wonderful boys -- Clayton (5), Brooks (4), and Emmett (1). In her spare time, she enjoys baking all sorts of pretty treats, creating things (usually involving power tools), and spending time with her sweet family. She is so excited for another great year in MOPS, as we all learn and grow together through this crazy adventure called motherhood.

Laura D., Co Creative Activities

Laura is delighted to be working with Kristen L. on creative activities this year! Formerly an Italian instructor and director of theatrical productions at the University of Notre Dame, Laura later became an attorney focusing on environmental law. She has been married to her wonderful husband Nick for eight years and they are blessed with one sweet and affectionate son, Andrew, three years old. She looks forward to sharing faith and friendship with MOPS moms this year!

Kristen Stack, Technology and Publicity

Kristen is a marketing obsessed entrepreneur turned stay at home mom (for now, we shall see what the future holds). During the day, she prepares endless amounts of snacks for her 3 year old Leonardo and does her best to soothe and snuggle her 1 year old Sawyer. After the kids are in bed, she cozies up to a glass of wine and her Cricut machine to make whatever her creative brain desires. She just opened an Etsy shop selling some of her designs, so fingers crossed it funds her crafting habit. Kristen grew up in a Christian household but her love for Christ has grown immensely over the last decade as she learned to appreciate how He uniquely made us all for our own special purpose.

Megan C., Table Leader Coordinator

Megan grew up in Maryland and attended college at The University of Maryland and graduate school at Georgetown University. She is a former nurse turned stay-at-home mommy to 3 adorable ducklings- Logan (9), Auden (5), and Reagan (3). She met her husband Justin while in college and have been married for 11 years. Being a military family they've had the opportunity to live in Europe and explore many parts of the world. This will be her sixth year in MOPS, and second year on Steering.  She looks forward to meeting so many new mamas this year. She enjoys (in no particular order) traveling, coffee, spending time with her family, photography, working out, Saint Louis Cardinals, and the beach.

Katherine Domanti, Hospitality

Melanie Nupp

Melanie grew up in Northern Virginia as the oldest of 5 kids. That's the short story anyways. Along the way she lived in her grandparents' replica of Mount Vernon for a year, in a hotel for 4 months, and went to 9 schools before going to college at UVA during which time she studied abroad in Valencia, Spain. Oh, and she also played the cello for 20 years. After graduation Melanie worked in Human Resources for a small government contractor for 5 years before pursuing her master's degree in Nutrition and Integrative Health. Melanie has been married for 9 years and has 2 daughters. She is passionate about helping people with chronic health concerns use food to feel better and hopes to get back to serving clients as her children get older. Melanie enjoys cooking, teaching her daughters about music, and has a newfound love for exercise. She hopes to make many new connections during her 2nd year in MOPS and 1st year on the Steering Team!
